How to Start a Supplement Brand

Starting a supplement brand comes down to five steps: choose your product, pick a manufacturer, sort compliance and packaging, brand it, and launch. You do not need a factory or a formulation of your own to begin, which is why most new brands start lean and test demand before investing heavily.

The steps

  1. Choose your product and audience. Decide the benefit you sell and who you sell to. This drives the format (capsule, powder, gummy) and the formulation.
  2. Pick a manufacturing route. White label is fastest and cheapest (brand a ready product). Private label gives you a unique product. Custom formulation builds a recipe from scratch.
  3. Handle compliance and packaging. The product must meet EU rules and carry compliant labelling. A manufacturer that handles certifications and compliance removes most of this burden.
  4. Build the brand. Name, label design, and positioning. Your manufacturer applies the label so the product arrives ready to sell.
  5. Launch and test. Start with a low minimum order, sell, learn, then scale the winners.

The low-risk way to start

The cheapest path is a white label product at a low minimum order. You validate demand with real sales before paying for custom formulation or large runs. If it sells, you move to private label or scale through contract manufacturing.
